SALVATION THROUGH JESUS CHRIST ALONE

“There is salvation in no one else.” — Acts 4:12

Main Text: Acts 4:12

“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

INTRODUCTION — THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION OF YOUR LIFE

Dear friends,

Today I want to ask you a question that is more important than your career, your money, your education, your family, your success, or even your physical health.

Where will you spend eternity?

One day every one of us will leave this world.

We can postpone many things in life:

  • We can postpone buying a house.
  • We can postpone a journey.
  • We can postpone a business decision.
  • We can postpone many responsibilities.

But we cannot postpone death forever.

The Bible says:

“And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.” — Hebrews 9:27

The great question is therefore not simply:

“How can I become successful in this life?”

The greater question is:

“How can I be right with God and receive eternal life?”

And the Bible gives a clear answer:

Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone.

Not through our goodness.

Not through our religious activities.

Not through money.

Not through good works.

Not through human philosophy.

Not through our own righteousness.

Salvation is God’s gift through Jesus Christ.

  1. WHY DO WE NEED SALVATION?

Before we understand salvation, we must understand the problem.

The problem is called sin.

The Bible says:

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” — Romans 3:23

Notice the word:

ALL.

Not some.

All.

Every human being has sinned.

You may say:

“I am not a bad person.”

Perhaps you are a good person by human standards.

You may help the poor.

You may respect your parents.

You may be honest in business.

You may give to charity.

You may live a respectable life.

But the question is not:

“Am I better than another person?”

The question is:

“Am I perfectly righteous before a holy God?”

God’s standard is holiness.

Sin separates us from God.

Isaiah 59:2 says:

“Your iniquities have separated you from your God.”

Sin is not merely breaking a religious rule.

Sin breaks our relationship with our Creator.

  1. SIN HAS A CONSEQUENCE

The Bible does not hide the seriousness of sin.

Romans 6:23 says:

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

There are two things in this verse:

The wages of sin — death.

The gift of God — eternal life.

Think about the word wages.

If you work, you receive wages.

In the same way, sin produces a consequence.

But notice something beautiful:

God does not merely tell us the bad news.

He gives us good news.

The verse continues:

“But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

God has provided a way out.

And that way is Jesus Christ.

  1. GOD LOVES THE SINNER

Perhaps someone is thinking:

“If God is angry with sinners, why should I come to Him?”

Listen carefully.

God hates sin, but God loves sinners.

The most famous verse in the Bible says:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” — John 3:16

Notice:

God loved.

God gave.

Jesus came.

We believe.

We receive eternal life.

God did not wait for humanity to become perfect before He loved us.

Romans 5:8 says:

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

The cross is God’s demonstration of His love.

Jesus did not die because you were good.

Jesus died because you needed saving.

  1. WHY COULDN’T WE SAVE OURSELVES?

Imagine a person drowning in the ocean.

He cannot save himself simply by saying:

“I will try harder.”

He needs someone who can rescue him.

Humanity is spiritually separated from God because of sin.

We cannot rescue ourselves through human effort.

The Bible says:

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.” — Ephesians 2:8

And verse 9 says:

“Not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

Good works are valuable, but good works cannot erase sin.

Imagine you committed a serious crime and stood before a judge.

You say:

“Judge, I have done many good things.”

The judge may respond:

“That may be true, but what about the crime you committed?”

Good deeds do not erase guilt.

In the same way, our good works cannot simply cancel our sin before a holy God.

We need forgiveness.

We need redemption.

We need a Savior.

  1. GOD PROVIDED THE SAVIOR — JESUS CHRIST

This is the heart of the Gospel.

God Himself provided the solution to our sin.

Jesus Christ came into the world.

He lived a sinless life.

He suffered.

He was crucified.

He died.

He was buried.

And on the third day, He rose again.

Why?

Because He came to save sinners.

Matthew 1:21 says:

“And you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.”

His very name points to His mission:

Jesus came to save.

  1. JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY TO THE FATHER

This is where Christianity makes a unique claim.

Jesus did not say:

“I am one of many ways.”

He said:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” — John 14:6

That is a very direct statement.

Jesus is the way.

Jesus is the truth.

Jesus is the life.

And Jesus says:

“No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Acts 4:12 makes the same truth even clearer:

“Nor is there salvation in any other.”

Why?

Because salvation is not ultimately about following a religious system.

Salvation is about being reconciled to God through Jesus Christ.

  1. WHY JESUS ALONE CAN SAVE US

Why is Jesus uniquely qualified to be our Savior?

Because Jesus is not merely another religious teacher.

The New Testament presents Him as the eternal Son of God who became man.

John 1:1 says:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

And John 1:14 says:

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”

Jesus Christ came from heaven into our world.

He became man.

He lived without sin.

Hebrews 4:15 says He was:

“without sin.”

That is important.

If Jesus had been a sinner, He would need a Savior Himself.

But He was sinless.

Therefore He could offer Himself for us.

  1. JESUS TOOK OUR PLACE

Here is the heart of the cross:

Jesus took our place.

Isaiah 53:5 says:

“He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities.”

Isaiah 53:6 says:

“The LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”

Think about that.

Our sin.

His sacrifice.

Our guilt.

His righteousness.

Our death.

His life.

2 Corinthians 5:21 says:

“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

This is the amazing exchange of the Gospel.

Jesus took what belonged to us so that we could receive what belongs to Him.

  1. THE CROSS IS NOT THE END — JESUS ROSE AGAIN

If Jesus had remained in the grave, Christianity would have no Gospel.

But Jesus rose.

The resurrection demonstrated that death could not hold Him.

1 Corinthians 15:3–4 teaches that Christ:

“died for our sins… He was buried, and… He rose again the third day.”

The resurrection means:

Sin can be forgiven.

Death has been defeated.

Eternal life is available.

Jesus is alive.

Our Savior is not a dead religious figure.

Jesus Christ is risen.

  1. WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?

Perhaps you are asking:

“If Jesus has done all this, what must I do?”

The answer is wonderfully simple.

Believe in Jesus Christ.

John 3:16 says:

“Whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Acts 16:31 says:

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved.”

But biblical belief is more than simply saying:

“I believe Jesus existed.”

It means trusting Him.

It means turning to Him.

It means receiving Him as Savior and Lord.

  1. REPENTANCE IS PART OF THE RESPONSE

Jesus calls people to repentance.

Mark 1:15 says:

“Repent, and believe in the gospel.”

Repentance means turning away from sin and turning toward God.

It means saying:

“Lord, I have sinned. I cannot save myself. I need You.”

You don’t need to clean yourself up before coming to Christ.

Come to Christ—and let Him transform you.

A sick person does not wait until he becomes healthy before going to the doctor.

He goes to the doctor because he is sick.

Likewise:

We come to Jesus because we are sinners who need a Savior.

  1. SALVATION IS BY GRACE

You cannot purchase salvation.

You cannot earn salvation.

You cannot deserve salvation.

It is God’s grace.

Ephesians 2:8 says:

“For by grace you have been saved through faith.”

Grace means God gives us what we could never earn.

Imagine receiving an enormous gift that you could never afford.

You don’t pay for it.

You simply receive it.

Salvation is God’s gift.

Jesus paid the price.

  1. JESUS IS CALLING YOU TODAY

Perhaps you have heard the Gospel many times.

Perhaps you have attended church.

Perhaps someone has prayed for you.

Perhaps you have read the Bible.

But hearing the Gospel is not the same as receiving Christ.

Jesus says in Revelation 3:20:

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock.”

The question is:

Will you open the door?

God will not force you.

He invites you.

Jesus says:

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

Notice the invitation:

Come to Me.

Not:

“Come to religion.”

Not:

“Come to human philosophy.”

Not:

“Come to your own righteousness.”

Come to Me.

  1. DON’T WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW

One of the greatest dangers is saying:

“I will accept Christ later.”

But we do not control tomorrow.

James 4:14 reminds us that our life is like a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes.

Today you have an opportunity.

Today you can respond.

2 Corinthians 6:2 says:

“Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”

Not someday.

Not when you become perfect.

Not when you become old.

Today.

  1. WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH JESUS?

This is ultimately the question.

Not:

“What do you think about religion?”

Not:

“Which church do you attend?”

Not:

“Are you a good person?”

The most important question is:

WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH JESUS CHRIST?

You can reject Him.

You can ignore Him.

Or you can receive Him.

But you cannot escape the importance of the decision.

Jesus said:

“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already.” — John 3:18

  1. A PERSONAL APPEAL

Dear friend,

Maybe you have been running from God.

Maybe you have lived your life your own way.

Maybe you have committed sins that you are ashamed of.

Maybe you think:

“God could never forgive someone like me.”

Listen carefully:

There is no sinner beyond the reach of God’s grace who comes to Christ in repentance and faith.

The prodigal son came home.

Peter was restored.

Paul, who persecuted the church, received mercy.

The thief on the cross turned to Jesus and received His promise.

And today Jesus still saves.

Your past does not have to determine your future.

Your failures do not have to be the final chapter.

Jesus can forgive you.

Jesus can cleanse you.

Jesus can give you a new beginning.

Jesus can give you eternal life.

  1. THE GREATEST INVITATION

Jesus said:

“Whoever comes to Me I will never cast out.” — John 6:37

What an incredible promise!

Whoever.

That includes you.

You may say:

“But I have sinned.”

Come to Jesus.

“I have failed.”

Come to Jesus.

“I have gone far away from God.”

Come to Jesus.

“I am not worthy.”

None of us can claim that we are worthy.

That is why we need grace.

Come to Jesus.

  1. THE DECISION

Today there are only two directions:

Away from Christ

or

Toward Christ.

There is no more important decision you will ever make.

Jesus says:

“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.” — John 11:25

And John 10:28 says:

“And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.”

Jesus offers you eternal life.

Not because you deserve it.

But because He loves you.

FINAL APPEAL — COME TO JESUS

Dear friend, imagine standing before God one day.

Your money cannot save you.

Your education cannot save you.

Your position cannot save you.

Your family cannot save you.

Your good works cannot save you.

Religion cannot save you.

Only Jesus can save.

Acts 4:12 declares:

“Nor is there salvation in any other.”

So today, don’t merely admire Jesus.

Receive Jesus.

Don’t merely hear about Jesus.

Trust Jesus.

Don’t merely know His name.

Surrender your life to Jesus.

Don’t postpone the decision.

Come to Him today.

A PRAYER OF SALVATION

If you genuinely believe in Jesus Christ and want to turn to Him, you can pray sincerely from your heart:

PRAYER TO RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST

Heavenly Father,

I come before You recognizing that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself.

I confess my sins before You.

I am sorry for my sins, and I turn away from my old way of living.

I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

I believe that He died on the cross for my sins and that He rose again from the dead.

Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the only Savior.

I put my faith and trust in You alone.

Please forgive my sins, cleanse me, and give me a new heart and a new life.

I receive You as my Savior and Lord.

From this day forward, I want to follow You.

Help me to know Your Word, obey Your commands, and live for Your glory.

Thank You for loving me.

Thank You for dying for me.

Thank You for rising again.

Thank You for the gift of eternal life.

I surrender my life to You.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I pray.

Amen.

CLOSING DECLARATION

Jesus is not merely a way to salvation.

Jesus is the Savior.

He is the way.

He is the truth.

He is the life.

He died for sinners.

He rose from the grave.

He offers forgiveness.

He offers eternal life.

And His invitation remains:

“Come to Me.” — Matthew 11:28

Today is the day of salvation.

Come to Jesus. Trust Jesus. Receive Jesus. Follow Jesus.

Jesus Christ alone is our Savior.
